In this article, we assume you have already installed Topi and signed in. If this is not the case and you require assistance, please read our article on how to install Topi.
There are three ways to join an event:
- Using an event code (most common)
- Using a QR code
- Using your GPS (least common)
At the bottom right of any screen (except Chats), click on this button to join an event:
and all three options will be available:
Joining an event with an event code
Each event in Topi has a private code set by the event organizer. This event code is usually sent to the participants upon registration or a few days prior to the event.
If you haven't received this private code, please contact your event organizer to request it.
Choose the first option Enter a code, and enter the private code for the event you want to join. That's it!
Joining an event with a QR code
Sometimes event organizers in addition to a private code also use QR codes—you may receive such a QR code via email or see it on posters and flyers at the event.
If there's a QR code on your badge, it is most likely used by event organizers to check you in. This personal QR code identifies you uniquely, it is not the same as the QR code to join the event in Topi.
Choose the second option Scan a QR code, and you will instantly join the corresponding event.
Note to Android users: By default, most Android devices do not have an app to scan QR codes and you have to install one. We highly recommend the ubiquitous Barcode Scanner by the ZXing Team.
Joining an event using GPS
If the organizer enabled this option, you may join the event seamlessly using your current location. Just click on the third option Use my location, grant access to your GPS if necessary, and Topi will determine if you're currently at an event.
This option will not work unless you're onsite, since Topi uses your current location.
